Tribals angry with activists fighting for human rights of Naxals while ignoring poor ‘adivasis’ threw rotten eggs and tomatoes at Magsaysay award winner Medha Patkar and Sandeep Pandey as they reached Dantewada town in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday January 6 2010, While Medha, being a woman, did not face much humiliation, her companion Pandey was pulled down from the motorcycle and given a hiding. He was pushed around and asked why the activists had done nothing for the tribals but found cause to support Naxals.Medha, who leads Narmada Bachao Andolan, and Pandey who founded Asha for Education, were on their way to participate in a ‘jan sunwai’ (people’s court) in Naxal-hit areas on Thursday. Patkar and Pandey were on a motorbike when tribals carrying banners of ‘Maa Danteswadi Adivasi Swabhimaan Manch’ surrounded them, asking them to go back. Shouting slogans like “Wapas jao, wapas jao (go back)’, the tribals alleged that NGOs “support Naxals under the pretext of human rights.”
The police resorted to lathicharge to rescue Patkar and Pandey. Dantewada SP Ambreesh Mishra, however, said the two should have been more careful. “We have been telling human rights activists that the situation in Dantewara is highly volatile. If they plan to visit these areas, they should inform the administration so that we can provide them with protection. Neither Patkar nor Pandey informed us. After they were rescued, we advised them to leave Dantewara,” SP Mishra said.

No CommentsJust a lazy sunday afternoon, unpacking your newly purchased computer, WITH the brand new operating system Windows Vista on it. The wow starts now… at least they say. In my case, it wasn’t the WOW that started, but a terrible head ache instead! My computer was running very slow, and I had a lot of trouble to get and stay connected to the internet.
So I decided to just reinstall that traditional Windows XP… And there the real trouble started. It seemed impossible to just remove Windows Vista and install Windows XP instead!
The lazy sunday afternoon turned into night, and many hours had to follow before I finally got rid of Vista. To save you that time to figure out how to delete Vista from your computer I made this page. I hope it’s helpfull to you!
Please note that this page is just a helping hand. Use this information at your own risk!
Remove Vista, installed next to another Windows operating system (e.g. 98/XP)
In this case you already had a Windows operating system installed, and you installed Windows Vista on a separate partition of your harddisk. Now you want to remove Windows Vista and keep your previous Windows operating system.
Don’t forget to make a backup as there are some risks with removing Vista!
This is what you need:
- Windows Vista installation DVD
This is what you should do:
1. Start your computer selecting Windows XP from the boot menu
2. Insert the Windows Vista installation DVD into your drive and close the menu that might open
3. Go to START > RUN > and type: “e:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force” (without quotes, and replace e: with the drive letter of your Vista DVD).
4. Restart your computer and boot into Windows XP
5. Format the drive where Windows Vista was installed on
6. Remove two files (Boot.BAK & Bootsect.BAK) on your XP root folder (e.g. C:\)
This should remove your Windows Vista installation and make XP the default operating system.
Remove Vista, as an upgrade of Windows XP
In this case you had Windows XP installed and upgraded it to Windows Vista. Now you want your own Windows XP back. Unfortunately it’s not possible to downgrade Vista to XP. Therefore you’ll need to remove Vista, format your hard drive, and reinstall XP from scratch.
Don’t forget to make a backup as there are some risks with removing Vista!
This is what you need:
- Windows XP installation CD – MS Dos environment boot disk (more info)
This is what you should do:
1. Start your computer with the Windows XP installation CD in your CDROM drive (note: you may have to change your BIOS settings to give priority to loading your CDROM drive instead of your hard drive!)
2. In the setup type R to repair an existing installation
3. Type fixboot C:\ (where C:\ is your Vista root, replace C with any other letter if applicable)
4. Type fixmbr C:\
5. Type EXIT
6. Then close the Windows XP setup and restart your computer with the bootable floppy or CD
7. At the command prompt type format C:\ (note: all data on C:\ will be removed, so make sure you’ve made a backup before doing this!)
8. Now restart your computer with the Windows XP installing CD in your CDROM drive
9. Install Windows XP as usual
This should remove your Windows Vista installation and make XP the default operating system.
Remove Vista and install another operating system (e.g. XP)
In this case you only have installed Windows Vista on your computer, or you’ve bought a new computer with Vista already installed on it. When some of your hardware or software may not function properly under Vista, you might want to remove it, and install e.g. XP instead.
3. Enter “fixboot C:\” (where C:\ is your Vista root, replace C with any other letter if applicable)
4. Enter “fixmbr C:\”
5. Enter “EXIT”
6. Then close the Windows XP setup and restart your computer with the bootable floppy or CD
7. At the command prompt type format C:\ (note: all data on C:\ will be removed, so make sure you’ve made a backup before doing this!)
8. Now restart your computer with the Windows XP installation CD in your CDROM drive 9. Install Windows XP as usual
This should remove your Windows Vista installation and make XP the default operating system.

Top Ten Reasons Why You Need a Cover Letter
Author: Administrator; Filed under: Career & Education, Resume Advice; Tagged as: acquisition, cover letter, cover letters, decision maker, desk, education, few minutes, first chance, homework, hundreds and thousands, job opening, job search, job title, jobs, prospective employer, prospective employers, relevant skills, resume, resume letter, resume letters, search committee, top ten reasons
No CommentsYour cover letter presents your intentions, qualifications, and availability to a prospective employer in a succinct, appealing format. It’s your first chance to make a great impression, a personalized letter indicates you are serious about your job search. Your resume can give the nitty-gritty of dates, places of employment, and education but your cover letter must entice the reader to take the extra few minutes to consider you when faced with hundreds and thousands of candidates for any one job opening.
1. Do you really need a cover letter?
You bet! Just as you would never just show up unannounced at a prospective employer’s door, your resume should Never just appear solo on a decision- maker’s desk. Your cover letter is your first opportunity to introduce yourself, present your qualifications, and show the search committee you are a potential candidate for the advertised position.2. Personalize it to the company.
Anyone can reproduce a “canned” cover letter and hope for the best. Instead, take a few minutes to personalize your letter by showing that you are really serious about working for the companies you are contacting. State the reason that you are interested in working for that particular company. Mention a department, a new project the company is involved in, an acquisition the company has made. Show that you have done your homework. Address the cover letter to a specific individual whenever possible.3. Why are you sending your resume and cover letter?
Cover letters should be clear and to the point. Include the specific job title, two to three reasons why your experience makes a good fit, and a brief outline of career highlights.4. Highlight your strengths!
You may be a great person and never call in sick, but prospective employers really want to know why they should consider you for this position. Brag a little! Give a few facts, list relevant skills, and state accomplishments on your present or most recent jobs that will be impressive. Increased overseas sales by 93%? Negotiated new financial leases/loans? Implemented new training programs which reduced staff turnover by 15%?5. State your intentions and qualifications right up front.
If you expect a senior personnel manager or recruiter to wade through a mish-mash of information on your cover letter before understanding why you are sending your resume, chances are, it will never happen.6. What makes you different?
Emphasize your skills, talents, and experiences to show how you would be a valuable addition to the team. If you have relevant volunteer or professional experience include it briefly in your cover letter. Example: An accountant who serves as volunteer treasurer for a nonprofit community health organization; an international sales rep who has lived in Europe and Asia and speaks several languages.7. No negative information!
Never include personality conflicts with previous employers, pending litigation suits, or sarcastic remarks in your cover letter. If you are bad-mouthing your present place of employment, interviewers may fear a repeat performance if they hire you.8. When should you include salary/relocation information?
The rule of thumb is to always include salary requirements and/or salary history in the cover letter if a prospective employer requests it. For example: My salary requirements are $60,000-$75000 (negotiable). Or: My current salary is $53,000 at XYZ corporation. To eliminate this information from your cover letter may justify your resume getting tossed out. Never include salary and relocation information on your resume, only address this information in your cover letter.9. Action Steps to Take
Take a proactive approach in your cover letter. State the fact that you are available for a personal interview; give your home, work, e-mail, and/or cell phone numbers where you can be reached; note that you will follow up by phone (where possible) to provide any additional information required.10. Be direct!
A professionally written cover letter and resume can open the doors to your next position on the corporate ladder, as well as a new career in a different field. A clean, error-free presentation combined with strong phrasing and solid facts will encourage the reader to review the attached resume and call you in for an interview.
